Ruchi started her career with the much talked about English daily newspaper Times Of India as a city reporter in Kolkata, India. Her stories have journeyed from Kolkata’s notorious red-light districts, NASA breaking news to the most happening parties in New York, Beverly Hills, and Houston. Her niche is ‘Lifestyle’.

At present, she also serves as a Houston correspondent for the North American News Channel TV Asia. Along with her stint with journalism and reporting, Ruchi takes the active initiative to volunteer for various non-profit organizations that involve women and children. She was nominated by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for the 2011 Man & Woman of the Year Campaign and won the Citizenship Award for Media/Community Involvement. (bio credit: LCA Houston website).

The 7th Annual international Mother’s Day Soiree was held at the Asia Society Texas Center this past Friday. LCA’s annual soiree has become a household event and continues to lead in bridging the gap between high society and diversity. LCA Houston honors 12 women each year for the great work that they are doing in the community.

Ruchi produces an exceptional event each year from red carpet moments, to live music and a killer runway where the women are dressed in beautiful gowns while being escorted by their children. The International Mother’s Day Soiree continues to push the conversation forward by bringing diverse groups of women together for an evening that will be cherished forever.

Sold out event for yet another year, I am always amazed by the creative signs that the honoree’s friends, families, colleagues, and more make to root on their favorite lady. It’s definitely one of the highlights of the evening.

It’s always a pleasure to serve alongside a team of volunteers which I have been able to do so for a 2nd year in a row. This annual event is always one to keep on your calendar. Stay tuned for next year’s soiree!
